For those of us involved in the grassroots work of the campaign to Save GAMC, the fight was never about a program.  It was on behalf of the people.

These are the people politicians are most likely to view as dispensable.  These are the people who turn to General Assistance and the Minnesota Family Investment Program.

And we strongly disagree that they – or anyone else – are dispensable.

We will continue our shared activism to resist any cuts to General Assistance or MFIP.  We know these resources are a lifeline for the low wage workers who have lost work and do not qualify for unemployment insurance, for those who are seriously ill or disabled and do not have access to short or long-term disability insurance.
